"The first property we purchased was a bank repossession. We purchased it for $101,000, fixed it up ourselves (we have since learned better), set it up as a lease option (so we could help a family get into a house), and sold it two years later for $159,000. So we made 58,000 on our very first house!
Our investing total has been $136,000 in cash received, 135,000 in net equity, and $271,000 in cash and equity in the past three years.
By education, I am a registered nurse. But we found that I was spending way too much time at the hospital and our kids were getting bigger and I was missing out on lots of activities. So we started investing in real estate so that I could cut back on time at the hospital.
Within three months of taking my Robert Allen training, I quit my job as a nurse and have never worked another hour as an RN. We have been using the education learned through the Robert Allen program to purchase 11 properties in the past two years and assign two others. "We are a married couple living in the Los Angeles, California area—a police officer and a building and safety permit tech who have been married for 21 years with three children. We realized that our future retirement checks alone would not be enough to live the type of life we had dreamed of or wanted to experience. "In January, I closed on my first commercial property. It was $800,000, 20 percent down, 6.25 percent interest over 25 years. It has Budget Rent a Car as a NNN tenant, along with four apartments and a two-bedroom cottage and garage. It cash flows $26,000 per year, which is an excellent return on my investment!
In the meantime, I have done a private mortgage for an investor at 18 percent interest. I hold the mortgage, note, and deed in lieu of foreclosure in case of default.
